MetroCommute starts work on a Chennai City Guide

MetroCommute is proud to start work on a Chennai City Guide to provide details on various aspects of Chennai.

This guide does *not* focus much on aspects already part of Wikipedia. Instead the Chennai City Guide strives to be a hands-on guide to people new to Chennai city.

Some important differences with respect to Wikipedia and Chennai City Guide...

Wikipedia is not a directory
Chennai City Guide may maintain information that can be termed as a directory.

Wikipedia is not a manual, guidebook, textbook, or scientific journal
Chennai City Guide is also not a manual, textbook or scientific journal, but a guidebook it is.

And unlike Wikipedia, the guide does not block out information on lesser known entities/aspects, nor does it strive to remain at a neutral point of view. Because, one cannot recommend what one believes to be the best set of shopping centers, cinemas, hotels and restaurants, without having formed a personal liking to those that are recommended.

As per the schedule, the counselling would start at 9.00 a.m. and the candidates attending the counselling are advised to reach the University Campus well in advance and to complete all the formalities relating to verification of documents, etc., from 7.00 a.m. onwards on the dates specified and be ready for counselling.

The counselling may go beyond office hours and the candidates would be given counselling on the specified date.

From Airport ::

There are no direct buses/trains from Airport to ECR/Uthandi...
Buses-or-Trains/Connecting/Airport/with/Uthandi Village

The "Driving Directions" in the above link (powered by Google) suggests the best route for taking an auto-rickshaw or a taxi. The distance is around 26.6 km. Better to take pre-paid taxi/auto from Airport.

If you want to use the public commuting options, you may switch at Guindy..

Buses connecting Anna University, Guindy - TNEA 2009

With the counseling starting for admission into Engineering Colleges in Tamilnadu, a lot of aspirants, along with their guardians, are likely to arrive at Chennai for counseling.

A total of 1.25 lakh students have applied for the counselling process and for the general category the counselling is to begin on July 10, 2009. Each day of the counselling will have eight sessions from 7:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. and handle 3500 students per day.

Among the guidance tips, Anna University's Vice-Chancellor Dr.P.Mannar Jawahar insists that..

* Those from out of Chennai should arrive in the city a day early and
* It is better to visit the counselling venue at the university's Guindy campus one day before their scheduled date, especially if they have an early morning session.
